Abstract

The baby is the first part to build a good human being and create the future leaders. The childhood period at the moment has great interest at all international, regional and local levels. So it is necessary to provide high quality, safe and suitable environment for all children in different parts of the world. Palestinian children do not receive the proper attention from the relevant centers and institutions and that reflects the deprivation suffered by the children from the psychological and security point of view, in addition to the lack of adequate standard of living, as well as the lack of the right to health care, recreation and play. Some of them are also lacking the right to private liberty as a large number of them are in the Israeli jails; 80% of them were subjected to torture and abuse, in addition to the consequent psychiatric disorders, health problems and unemployment, in addition to the lack of educational attainment and lack of social stability. The research aims to look at childhood centers in the Gaza Strip to see their contribution in alleviating the reality of the Palestinian child, through the evaluation of a typical model, Qattan Center in Gaza City, to see the extent of its contribution in creating educational, cultural, recreational and friendly and attractive environment appropriate to the needs of the child. This would achieve a sense of joy and fun regardless the difficult circumstances experienced by the Palestinian child who has been denied even the lowest of his rights which is to live in peace like other children of the world. The research problem lies in the following question, "Do interest in architecture that takes into account the child concerns has been suitably addressed, as well as attention to the urban aspects that take into account childhood requirements? How can architecture corresponds with child psychology. The hypothesis of the research is based on a negative answer to the previous questions, i.e. the lack of interest in architecture that suite the child interests; even the buildings lack the architectural style and do not reflect the content and function, and most of them are residential buildings which are not originally designed for children and is most likely not in line with the psychological dimension of the child, as well as the lack of attention to the physical aspects that take into account children needs, such as the lack of places to play and green squares. To achieve the objectives of the study, the research follows descriptive and analytical approach to study the Center-Qattan in Gaza City. Eventually, the paper presents a set of findings and recommendations that will create a friendly and attractive cultural environment that meets the interests of children and their families, and urging them to interact with their surroundings and opening to the outside world cultures, and promote the habits of love of reading, writing, and promote the love and attention of children's book and other office materials and to encourage freedom of inquiry and expression for children and finally promote information technology awareness through the work and cooperation with institutions and organizations related to children in Palestine.
