Abstract

Manuscripts represent the historical and scientific repository of Arab and Islamic culture. These manuscripts contain unique sciences and arts including history, literature, biographies, Quranic exegesis, collections of prophetic sunnah, jurisprudence, legislation and more. Despite great efforts made and being made to technically and academically preserve manuscripts, there is still much progress to be achieved. The only way forward is to establish manuscript culture within societies, organizations and especially universities.

The study demonstrated previous scholars’ efforts in caring for manuscripts, particularly Hadith scholars who left extensive scientific material on the Principles of Narration. It examined avenues for cognitive investment in these widely accepted sciences among students and researchers. The goal is to achieve cognitive integration between the sciences of narration and manuscript analysis. This serves heritage and revives awareness of manuscripts’ scientific and historical value.

Additionally, the study presented formulations for academic courses and research projects aimed at enhancing humanities programs for students. This anticipates spreading awareness of Hadith in academia as the primary incubator of manuscripts.

The research revealed the close relationship between Hadith sciences and manuscript investigation, including the natural connection between them. Manuscript investigation requires Hadith sciences in all stages, from documenting a manuscript's history and copying, its relationship with the author, routes of narration and transmission, to finally correcting and verifying a manuscript
