This research paper seeks to identify the presence of the 'present' as a topic that has formed a focus in both Western and Arab intellectual and philosophical efforts. This is in terms of its various and constantly changing connotations and issues, which requires the contemporary philosophical discourse to renew its knowledge and invent new intellectual mechanisms to keep pace with these changing daily events.
Like otherterms, it has eluded terminological control, as well as conceptual definition Here we can ask: How did contemporary philosophers deal with the daily topic and its issues? Were their efforts able to comprehend it semantically and terminologically? What are the most important terms with which they expressed the present? How positive is the contemporary Arab intellectual's dealing with the issue of the 'current'? Or has he fallen into pitfalls that prevented him from effectively dealing with his reality? Who among the contemporary Arab thinkers directed their arrows of criticism at the contemporary Arab intellectual? What is the nature of the criticism directed by the critical thinker 'Ali Harb' towards the intellectuals of his time? To what did he attribute the failure of the Arab intellectual in his interaction with the various current issues?, To sanctifying old sayings and theories, or to his inability to innovate new concepts, and his lack of effective thinking mechanisms? In order to answer these and other questions, we preferred to adopt a descriptive and analytical approach, through the book “Delusions of the Elite” by the thinker “Ali Harb”.
