This research deals with one of the most prominent figures in our contemporary history, whose religious and ideological orientations have shifted between Catholicism to Marxism and Communism, with whom the waves of knowledge and the search for truth reach Islam, namely Roger Garaudy, one whose views made a milestone in the call for the dialogue of civilizations, in which the position of the informed, scrutinizing and meticulous critic stood in his analysis of the history of human civilizations, especially Western civilization, which met Garaudy with harsh criticism, And his establishment of the annotated dialogue of civilizations on historical, knowledge and humanitarian grounds, he called the "Hope Project", Especially after the escalation of hate speech and the conflicts left by the first and second world wars, and then the Cold War, the saying 'dialogue of civilizations' imposed itself between the terms used by thinkers and scholars, especially at the end of the twentieth century, Although its beginning was earlier than this time, as it coincided after the publication of Samuel Huntington's thesis on the clash of civilizations.
From here emerges the problematic of this research, which revolves around the premises on which Roger Garaudy based his project calling for the dialogue of civilizations, And the possibility of achieving this civilized project in front of the challenges and obstacles that prevent it, In this, we follow the inductive and analytical approach of Roger Garaudy’s ideas expressed in his various books, especially his book “For the Dialogue of Civilizations”.
