Abstract

The classroom is the space in which the education process takes place, it is the main in the school according to
its function. The innovation in pedagogical ways, also the interest in the psychological level of the child in the
primary stage has made an evolution at the architectural forms, unlike to what is happening in Algeria.
The rectangular shape has been inserted as a classroom shape since the appearance of school, pedagogues
confirmed its role in easing and orienting the education process; meanwhile , architectures must reconsider the
reformation of this space so it fits the psychological and pedagogical requirements; hence, the question is: does
the conventional and habitual form of the classroom fit the oriented needs, taught subjects, practiced pedagogy
and the child's psychological and pedagogical needs in the primary level at Batna?
This piece of research is addressing the effectiveness of the rectangular form ,it may propose another form for
the classroom through a theoretical approach we review the chronological evolution of the classroom in regard to
the actual psychological and pedagogical needs of the child; on the other hand, the objective of the analytic
approach is to analyze classroom situation in Batna and try to support this orientation through interviews with
teachers and psychologists to give a novel design that the Algerian school can benefit from.
