Abstract

As an essential foundation for the growth of urban development, the urban transport system is crucial to its advancement. It is also a key indicator of a city's overall efficiency and traffic regulations. This study is in line with the Algerian government's recent guidelines for sustainable development. It focuses particularly on the regulatory aspect of mechanisms to mitigate road noise, through a critical review of the recently implemented State Decision n°1123 dated April 24, 2023. This restriction on noisy sports cars and motorcyclists in urban and residential areas at night is being implemented by the authorities in the districts of Algiers and Blida. This particular measure is part of a series of preventive measures that have been strategically developed to mitigate noise emissions and safeguard the peace and quiet of the general public. This study aims to advance the adoption of national noise abatement regulations while proposing recommendations that are both cost-effective and capable of facilitating better control of noise problems related to urban mobility.
