Abstract

The mausoleum is an architectural monument built on the tomb of one of the characters commemorating his memory. The shape of mausoleums varies from one civilization to another; the cultural substratum and the environment played a big role in the development of funerary architecture.The mausoleum Bordj Ghedir is a Roman funerary monument is located southeast of the town of Bordj Ghedir who was called lemllef in the province of Setifian Mauritania. It affects as a whole the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped is built of beautifully carved stones of great apparatus, by comparison it is similar in its current state to the mausoleum of Lambèse by that form its architecture and its ornamentations. Its restitution will give a heritage and identity value to the city which has not yet revealed its secrets of the Roman era and encourages the action to safeguard the heritage and the typological study of the Roman mausoleums in Algeria.
