Abstract

Understanding the urban structure, doing well the city - case study of the city of Batna- Algeria In the shadow of the rapid changes recently experienced by the Algerian city and a perspective of transformation of the urban heritage, in order to promote the well being and quality of urban life. It has become imperative to use approaches and new scientific methods, particularly in the field of urban planning and development. The study has led to the following results: the problem of city management forces us to redistribute functional centralities, taking into account the classification of urban areas as a living area, activity zone, and sensitive urban area. Because the study of the urban structure allows us to identify the real identity of the major urban areas while respecting these urbanity and functional characteristics. At a time when the classical orientations of the PDAU deeply reconfigured the extension of the urban fabric
