Abstract

The spread of Islam in North Africa was accompanied by the spread of the Arabic language, the language of the conquerors and, before that, the language of the revelation sent down by God Almighty to His noble Messenger, may God's prayers and peace be upon him.

The Arabic language is an effective means of understanding the religion and its principles. Therefore, the Berbers embraced it and it spread among them to the point that it rivaled the original language. This is strong evidence of the degree of conviction that the Berbers possess in embracing Islam. Indeed, they became its people, defenders of it, and fighters for the sake of spreading it and expanding the scope of its adherents.
