Abstract

The book Al-Muntaqa fi Sharh Al-Muwatta of Imam Al-Baji is considered an authentic source for jurists in general and for Maliki scholars in particular, as its owner took care of it with the interesting explanation of the hadiths contained in the book of Al-Muwatta, so that this reference became a source for every jurist who wanted to gain insight into Islam.

This reference has been distinguished by the care of its author by mentioning the rational evidence for each issue discussed in this book, as not one of the issues addressed in this book is devoid of anything except that it has been deducted by analogy when mentioning the evidence of the issue or when referring, and it has taken a clear-cut approach when deducting by analogy. He uses it sometimes as evidence in matters, for which he has no evidence from the Quran, Sunnah or consensus, and at other times he uses analogy to direct sayings or narrations in the doctrine, and most often he uses analogy to refer between different sayings for which other evidence from the Quran, Sunnahor consensus is proven.
