The aim of this paper is to investigate the role of external audit quality as a modern tool for enhancing the quality of financial statements, particularly in the context of using information technologies to facilitate the auditing process. This study addresses the concept of external audit quality, its significance, and the impact of information technology on its effectiveness. Additionally, it explores the definition of quality in the context of financial statements and highlights the key standards influenced by current technological advancements.
The findings of this paper conclude that integrating information technology into the auditing and review processes significantly enhances the quality of audit procedures and methods. It also reduces the time, effort, and costs associated with conducting audits without compromising their objectives. As a result, it contributes to improving the quality of financial statements by increasing their relevance, credibility, and reliability. This, in turn, helps users of financial statements make decisions more efficiently and effectively.
