The French army’s policy to support European settlement in Algeria during the rule of marshals Clauzel and Bugeaud

The policy of the French occupation In Algeria relied on its approach, the basis of wish was the invasion and plundering of the lands of the Algerians, on the one hands, and the support of European settlement In Algeria by all possible means. During the first two decades of the occupation the French army had a great role in this, especially during the reign of marshal’s Bertrand Clauzel and Thomas Robert Bugeaud. Thus, this study aims to highlight the strategy of the French army in supporting its immigration and the establishment of a European settlement base.
