The Orientalist studies that dealt with Islamic and Arab history dealt with it from their own point of view and tried to confer on the Arab presence the nature of occupation and the local response to Islam. Thus, in his book North Africa, Charles Andrei tries to highlight what the Muslim Arabs spoiled when they came to the north Africa, and how the Berbers resisted them as a result of their rejection of the new religion, the Islamic religion. The Auras were the bastion of the revolution and the resistance of the conquering Muslims. This is not new to its inhabitants as a fortress for revolutionaries and a place to confront anyone who tries to encroach on its lands.
