Abstract

The good understanding of the Sunnah is the important pillar for the straightness of the way of thinking, the work, and the behavior. On the other hand, its misunderstanding or its misinterpretation by some Muslims has created a distance and caused their deviation from reason, which consequently led to the emergence of heterodox and disoriented groups. These groups represent a real danger on the principles of the prophet since they have just a limited perception of texts based only on certain aspects and forms. Muslims should, therefore, improve their understanding of the Sunnah of the Prophet by respecting the Fiqh and the rules of behavior, and by following and imitating the Prophet’s companions who avoided the literal and simple interpretation of the Hadith. The companions adopted scientific norms to help them understanding correctly the Prophet’s texts, among which the norm of place and time dimension when raising ambiguity on a text. Our study is therefore entitled “Time and place dimensions and their effects on Sunnah understanding by the companions”.
