As a result of the University of Algeria's knowledge openness in recent years, I was necessary the historian and archaeologist synchronizing this openness, in a serious attempt to eliminate the limitations of the French school in writing Maghreb's ancient history, The departure from French studies is not an easy process for the historian and archaeological in Algeria, This is due to a series of considerations, most notably the French interest in Maghreb’s ancient history, Especially the Roman period, this is due to the ideology of the French school of addressing the history of their colonies in a way that serves their political interests.
But besides French studies there are other foreign studies interested in the historical and archaeological research aspect of ancient Maghreb, in the subject of this article I will present the archaeological city of Timgad through the British backpacker “James Burse”, in an attempt to head to British archaeological research on the typical Roman city in the Algerian east.
