Abstract

The Almohad state appeared in the Islamic Maghreb during the sixth century AH, which was established by a religious movement. During this period, the Middle Maghreb witnessed a political and military stability, which led to a shift of focus on the cultural and scientific aspects and, thus, many sciences emerged and developed, most notably Sufism. For Muslims, Sufism is a religious, social, and psychological phenomenon that has emerged since the advent of Islam, because the Qur’an and the Sunnah are its main sources. Sufism, it must be noted, became gradually highly recognized in the Islamic societies such as Almohad community and led by many pioneering scholars in several Islamic regions and in Middle Mahreb. The scholar Abu Madyan Shuaib (509 AH - 594 AH) is one of those famous religious leaders who is considered as one of the most well-known scholars, ascetic jurists, and devout mystics.
