Role of African Union in confront the unconstitutional changes in the African continent

This study aims to demonstrate the role of the African Union in confronting unconstitutional changes in the continent, as it is the most common means of transferring power on the African continent, and while the Organization of African Unity previously proved its failure to deal with the unconstitutional changes that were taking place on the African continent, but with the establishment of the Union The latter was quick to adopt several legal instruments aimed at prohibiting and preventing access to power in an illegal and constitutional manner, the most important of which was the adoption by the Union of the African Charter for Democracy, Elections and Governance in January 2007.
The study concluded by presenting some suggestions to improve the reaction of the African Union in confronting the phenomenon of illegal and constitutional change of government in the African continent.
