The penalty for working for the public good and its role in reforming and rehabilitating the convict

The punishment aims to reform and rehabilitate the perpetrator as a new goal, The modern punitive policy aims to achieve it ,The deterrence of the perpetrator is no longer sufficient to repair it, which required changing and developing the type of penalties imposed on the perpetrator after the negative punishment of freedom proved to be opposed and the goal of the punitive policy, which led to the adoption of penalties ,alternatively it can reform and rehabilitate the perpetrator and reintegrate him into society, which is what the punitive policy seeks by adopting the punishment for work for the public benefit due to its effective role in reform and rehabilitation ,which is what the Algerian legislator has taken according to law no: 09-01 of25 February 2009 modified and completed decree no: 66-156 of 08 June 1966 containing the penal code.
