The effect of dissolution of marriage on the nationality acquired through marriage

Abstract

Some laws, including the Algerian Nationality Law, under Ordinance No. 05/01 of 2005, amended and supplemented, recognize the acquisition of Algerian nationality through marriage, along with naturalization and restitution, and accordingly, a foreign spouse can acquire Algerian nationality based on the marriage contract.

However, this marriage may be subject to dissolution, either due to divorce, death or nullity, which raises the issue of the resulting nationality being affected.
