Abstract

Undoubtedly, the progress of any society greatly depends on its people’s education and love of reading, these two ways lead to knowledge in its broad sense. This latter gives great prospects and capabilities in all field. For this, people who are aware of the importance of both reading and knowledge, try to be the masterminds of the future of the country .Starting with librarian as a member in the society, who influences and is influenced by his environment, is obliged to read to lift himself to a higher level and benefit the people he deals with at work. he also provides his community with all new information and cultures. However, reading has particular principles and skills to be applied and achieve its objectives. The contribute to facilitating library work and maintaining communication among the members participating in services. This appears in the efficient reading skill. To study this problematic, we relied on the descriptive approach as it depends on data collecting and its analysis in a scientific way. Our study was carried out at the central library of EL Hadj Lakhdar University Batna1. We distributed a questionnaire as a data collection tool to librarians working there. From data analysis, comparing it to the existing theoretical concepts, we concluded that most librarians value reading and its skills, seek mastering it and generalize it to all librarians and libraries
