The role theory in Algerian foreign policy and the renewal of Algeria’s pivotal role in the African Sahel region

Understanding the regional orientations and actions undertaken by Algeria in its foreign policy leads us to analyse its role and its regional place. Given that its foreign policy evolves under various constraints and requirements imposed by the global and regional context, due to the emergence of new challenges and threats that undermine the Sahel region. As a result, it’s obliged to ensure stability, continuity and mutability in its foreign policy. All the more, to reconcile the principles which it conveys through its foreign policy with the requirements of the geopolitical environment prevailing in the Sahel region, in other words, to reconcile normativity and geopolitical rationality. What shows the importance of Algeria's role in countering existing threats and resolving regional conflicts, through its role as a mediator and stabilizer aimed at consolidating security and building strength institutions that will ensure conversion towards the States of law in the Sahel region
