Solar and Wind Energy towards a National Development Policy for Southern Algeria

Abstract

This study deals with the subject of development policies, adopted by Algeria for the solar and wind energy industry in order to develop renewable energy, and to provide energy services to isolated areas from traditional distribution networks, this study aimed at identifying the contribution of solar and wind energy to activating development in the southern Algeria regions. Based on this study, the reached result is that investing in solar and wind energy in Algeria contributes to revitalizing the southern regions and achieving economic and social development, and despite Algeria’s enormous potential in this regard, solar and wind energy have not been yet optimized.
