Abstract

Chinese economic growth has increased demand for energy supplies, which could have negative effects on both the Chinese economy and national security. This paper focuses on the role of energy as a basic pillar of Chinese national security by shedding light on the various challenges related to Chinese energy security, both internally and externally. The study will also try to shed light on the most important energy policies and strategies pursued by China to deal with these challenges, such as providing adequate supplies at reasonable prices and taking precautionary measures in order to provide quick alternatives when needed and increase the ability to develop and maintain them, in addition to enhancing investment operations where security is required. Energy appropriate policies and climates that encourage investment and development, such as political stability and the provision of the necessary infrastructure to ensure the necessary energy supplies for the Chinese economy.
