Abstract

 there is an urgent need to ensure adequate food for the Maghreb citizen and achieve self-sufficiency and food security. Raising the issue of food security in the Maghreb countries, between reality and expectations, is of great importance in our contemporary world with its political, economic and security components, where food and nutrition remain a preoccupation for all countries and peoples, either by producing what they can produce or by importing what they need. With all that requires financial capabilities and internal circumstances that affect and affected by the food issue. The results of the study found that the Maghreb countries suffer with varying degrees from food dependency, in light of data that talk about a real shortage in food production. Where serious reports and research on this subject confirm emphasize the need to deal quickly with the negative consequences of food dependency and the loss of food security, with what it represents the continuation of that from danger to the independence of the economic and political decision of these countries. Therefore, increasing food production is one of the main ingredients in achieving food security.
