Abstract

The study aims at studying tourism security, its development, characteristics and the human effect as factors which lead to political instability, terrorism and crime. It also aims at analyzing the Jordanian tourism security level according to the international travel and tourism competition reports between 2007 and 2015 CE. To achieve the study objectives, the descriptive method has been adopted and the World Tourism Organization periodicals have been adopted. The study shows that the most important factors which affect the tourists' decision- making, especially in the developed countries, regarding their destination if there are security problems in the target country are the roles of governments, travel agencies, mass media and tourist's schedule including a number of countries in the same region. Finally, the results shows that the Jordanian tourism security was placed in an advanced level in the world between 2007 and 2009 CE due to the local and regional political and security stability while it went down between 2011 and 2015 because of the political and security instability at the regional level as a result of the Arab Spring events.
