Abstract

Among the trends that transform any society, questions relating to reproductive behavior remain the most dominant in socio demographic studies. In this article, we try to explain this phenomenon while relying on a cross-sectional approach and data from the five population censuses in Algeria, as well as the various surveys and studies that have worked on the subject in question. The article concludes that the change in reproductive behavior amounts to the conjunctural situation of Algerian fertility which can be explained by the evolution of the share of women of reproductive age, who have taken time to marry, and of found themselves faced with a new situation known as "late motherhood".
