Specialized training is not considered in general teacher training in Algeria. This generates an absence of special education, and therefore a decayed education. The aim of this article is to demonstrate the absence of specialized training, to determine the incompatibility between training theory and the realityin the field, and to identify the repercussions on practices linked to pedagogical training. The data are basedon an interview survey conducted with 30 teachers ofFrench as a foreign language, located in the city of Batna. The results reveal that specialized training is marginalized, and that the professionalization of the profession remains incomplete. As for other training (initial, continuous and preparatory), some remain barricaded on theory and others do not resolve the embarrassments of reality against which the teachers, especially the new recruits, come up against.
