Abstract

Parliamentary opposition is a form of political opposition to a particular government and an essential element of the democratic political regimes, and has considered a vital characteristic of democracy. The opposition is here to denounce mistakes, errors, failures, corruption, lack of honesty and integrity and prevent abuses of power and position as much as possible to make responsibles consider the public opinion and respond to people's needs. This study comes to shed light on the status of parliamentary opposition in the Algerian Constitution and to show the most important rights of the parliamentary opposition recognized by the Algerian Constitution in the amendment of 2016 aimed at the participation in the legislative and control works and political life included in the article 114 of the constitutional amendment of 2016. However, these rights are worthless because of the conditions on which they are based. It is mainly related to the large number of quorum deputies from the parliamentary opposition i.e. notifying the Constitutional Council by the parliamentary opposition and its activation that requires the movement of 50 deputies in the National People's Assembly and 30 members in the National Assembly
