Abstract

 The current study aims to identify the social representation content of the car as private space and how it is organized into central, peripheral and paradoxical elements, according to the central core theory by Abric , The study based on analytical descriptive method, the sample consisted of 105 drivers in Banta ( east of Algeria), by using free association technique to Verges. The data obtained were analysed by Evoc program (2005), The results are: The content and structure of social reprentation for the car as the private space linked to several psychological symbolic dimensions like intimacy, privacy, my first home, comfort and freedom, these results give another perception of the car ,exceeds utilitarian limits of the car ,which can give an explanation for many behaviours on our roads.
