This paper aims at carrying out an analytical reading of the whole problems of urban planning resulted from the past accumulation of various interactions in Tebessa city as a primarily residential area which inevitably affect its sustainable development. This reading will inevitably help to find feasible solutions to the sustainability of urban planning for residential areas by the use of flexible methods in line with the circumstances and developments that prevent from achieving the goals. It is not possible to reach the desired goals through relying on a systematic approach that considers the residential field as an urban format consisting of a set of elements of composition. Also, it's not possible to rely on the integrated approach that reflects the famous saying, "comprehensive thinking, local management" through reflection and simultaneous analysis of the intersection interactions of the social, economic, environmental and institutional dimension by considering its impact on the sustainability of urban planning for the residential areas of Tebessa city.
