Abstract

The present work aims at highlighting the value of the efforts made gradually by Algeria in order to implement the obligations contained in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. In addition, it seeks to investigate the extent to which Algeria is committed to ensuring the effective enjoyment of economic and social rights at the internal level. To achieve these aims we opt for the descriptive method within an analytical framework. We analyzed the documents and reports issued by Algeria and the international control mechanisms which is charged with monitoring the implementation of related international standards. The results showed that Algeria’s human rights record is positive to big extent and receives the approval and encouragement of international organizations. Despite that, they keep pushing it to take more procedures and measures to fully and properly implement these rights. Finally, we suggested some recommendations that would improve Algeria's compliance with similar obligations.
