Abstract

The supply of drinking water in quantity and quality is one of the objectives of sustainable development and one of the main criteria for measuring the development of countries. And because of the importance of this topic, it was addressed by studying first the evolution of the growth and distribution of the population in the state of Constantine for the various censuses as well as future projections, and finally the impact of this growth on both the production of drinking water and the en per capita supply. The study revealed that 67% of the population of Constantine is concentrated in two cities and the future projection confirms that the population will reach 3,502,985 hab in 2045. The study also demonstrated that there is a surplus in the production of drinking water by confirming the general upward trend as well as a strong positive correlation between the population and both the production of drinking water and the endowment per capita. Finally, the current production largely exceeds the needs of the population.
