Abstract

The study aims to clarify the tools that parliament uses to affect the government in the Algerian and Lebanese political systems, in light of the constitutional amendments of the two countries for the 2020 and 2004 years, by clarifying the parliamentary oversight mechanisms over the government, which may result in the government's responsibility and the possibility of its dropping and withdrawing confidence from it, in both systems ,and highlighting the similarities and differences between them. The study concluded that there are several means by which Parliament affects the government in the Algerian and Lebanese political systems, which entail the government’s responsibility and the possibility of its resignation, such as discussing and voting on the government’s work plan; accessing, discussing, and voting on the policy statement; but there are many similarities and differences in the application of these tools between the Algerian and Lebanese systems.
