By the beginning of 2020, the Algerian economy had experienced an unprecedented collapse under the impact of an oil shock that drained public treasury reserves, making the situation even darker as a result of the global health crisis which led to a global economic recession following preventive measures imposed by States to mitigate the spread of the Covid19 pandemic. Consequently, the national economy collapsed and the political system failed to manage the health crisis. Accordingly, The President has invited to achieve an economic transformation relying on tourism sector especially with Algeria's significant heritage tourism assets. The study therefore seeks to present the most important government policies and programs aimed at sustaining heritage tourism, as well as achievements in this area, in addition to proposed recommendations for the protection of Algeria's physical cultural heritage.
