This study reviews the general situation of the AlgerianMediterranean decentralized cooperation. It does so by defining the trends, scope and areas of cooperation, as well as identifying the extent of its expansion and depth. Besides, this study provides an overall assessment of that reality, and attempts to explain it. The results of this paper indicate that the AlgerianMediterranean decentralized cooperation is very limited, superficial and revolves around one or two Mediterranean partners (European countries). This situation is attributed to a set of multidimensional explanatory factors that the Mediterranean authorities have begun to deal with in recent years in an attempt at developing this form of cooperation and promoting it to become at the level of expectations.
