Abstract

The current study aimed to reveal the implications of the social representations of parents on school, and to unveil the structure of these representations and how they are organized. For this purpose, we opted for the descriptive-analytical approach, where we conducted a field study on a sample of (56) parents, who were randomly selected. Based on the free association technique of Abric, we collected the parents’ representations and their content was analyzed based on the (Evoc 2005) program.
Consequently, we concluded that the social representations of parents generally reflect the basic functions for which the school was founded, i.e. educational, social and psychological functions and the central nucleus included: learning, the second home, education, character building, the future, and the peripheral elements including theformation of social relationships.
