The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the Internet, primarily social media, on the identity of Algerian undergraduate students in the context of globalization. The descriptive methodology was used as the most appropriate research methodology for such studies. A questionnaire was prepared and distributed to a (52) people sample group of second year Master students majoring in sociology of media and communication، selected According to the purposeful sampling technique. the study produced a number of findings, the most important of which were: the followings the subjects of the study declare an extensive usage of multiple social media on daily basis. The results also confirms that there are a range of negative effects on the identity and values of university youth resulting from the extensive use of social media sites; therefore significantly contributing to obliteration of the original identity of those students
