Electronic archiving of Algerian institutions' documents Feasibility study and means of implementation from the viewpoint of archivists

This study came to reveal the feasibility of electronic archiving of Algerian institution’s documents, and ways to implement them, according to archivists, by an electronic questionnaire witch sending via e-mails or to virtual professional groups via Facebook, seeking to clarify the general orientation of professional environment and challenges faced, available capabilities to know the necessity to maintain the traditional systems or move to the electronic archiving projects. The study concluded that the archives is still in a traditional environment, in the absence of standard conditions for buildings and preservation halls, and facing various risks. Archivists believe that adopting electronic archiving is the most effective way to ensure the effectiveness in performing tasks and providing services, and that imposes updating the current archival legislation, and monitor financial allocations to provide various qualified human resources, necessary technical structure, in addition to organizing traditional documents and converting the task to digital form.
