Abstract

Staefia Mauritania was an important historical period in the ancient Roman history of Ancient Maghreb, since it was established in the second half of the third century AD by the Emperor "Diocletian" (284-305 AD), and it plays its cultural role with distinction politically, militarily, and especially economically; The history of this province is rich With the resistances and revolutions against the Roman occupation (the third and fourth centuries AD), it was often led by local tribes, perhaps the most important of which were, the Bavares tribes and the Quinquegentiani, so the territory of the Staefia district was where these revolutions took place , which would definitely affect the Roman presence in the region. Perhaps the most important motive behind our desire to study the tribes of (stayfya) Mauritania is to shed light on the tribes that inhabited this important, strategically positioned region, the problem of a local society by creating clusters and tribal confederations, through following the scattered shards that differ when it comes to the information relayed to us in ancient scribes and literary texts, and there are many facts that are still unknown and mysterious.
