Throughout the Islamic history, there were many cultural centers in the Islamic Maghreb, each of which has emerged in a certain period. Tlemcen brightened and witnessed an unprecedented cultural prosperity during the Zayani era, as a result of the succession of several civilizations and through their successive kingdoms such as the Idrisis, the Almoravids, the Almohads, the Zayanites and others, and it extended and influenced several Arab and Islamic cities. During the Zayani rule Tlemcen flourished both culturally and cognitively due to Bani Zayan’s uniqueness in governance. Hence, our study aims to answer the following questions:
- How was the cultural relation between Tlemcen and the rest of the Islamic Maghreb? - What are the most important impressions that we can discover from the writings of maghrebian scholars about Tlemcen in the Zayani era?
