Abstract

Our ancient scholars, such as linguists, grammarians, commentators, and others, took care of studying Quranic recitations from various aspects, and they fulfilled their mission with the linguistic capabilities that were available. Contemporaries came after them and added additions some efforts based on modern sciences and methodologies in studying the language and its levels. The phonetic phenomena that were included in the Qur’anic readings were a fertile field for their studies and research. The compilations and books of the Qur’anic readings contributed with soundscape investigations that are highly accurate in study and analysis. In this research, I tried to explore some of the manifestations of these phonetic phenomena in the Quranic readings through the dictionary of Quranic readings by Ahmed Mukhtar Omar and Abdel Aal Salem Makram.
