The literature within urban sociology indicates that this discipline has gone
through an epistemological and ontological crisis. This is due to: the dispersion of its
topics, and the rise of globalization. This study highlights the path that characterized
the object of this discipline, from its birth as a unique discipline that aims to prove
itself through its theories to the context of globalization. This study follow-up various
theories and their critical analysis from different angles, to reformulate a theoretical
object of urban sociology and highlighting its value within the requirements of the
current time. The study concludes that it is necessary to open the way for more theories
to preserve the identity of urban sociology in the face of multidisciplinary.
