The current study aimed to finding out the effectiveness of a proposed training program in
developing non-verbal communication skills among a sample of 6 children with autism spectrum
disorder, aged between 4 and 7 years old. Semi-experimental, approach was used to know the effect
of the independent variable.
To achieve the objective of the study, we use The Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) to
ensure the homogeneity of the sample (mild autism) - A questionnaire has been developed too to
measure non-verbal communication skills (developed by researchers) and a training program in
developing non-verbal communication skills (developed by researchers).
The results showed statistically significant difference between the pre and post assessments of
non-verbal skills favoring the post application. This shows the effectiveness of the proposed training
program.
